Information Event: MSCA Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) 2018, London

The staff of the EFB was present yesterday, 09.01.2018, at the Information Event organized by the UK Research Office (UKRO). The training of UKRO, as UK National Contact Point for the Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), had the main aim to share information for organisations interested in applying to the 2018 MSCA Research and Innovation Staff Exchange Action (RISE) call, which was opened on 22 November 2017 and has a deadline of 21 March 2018.

The assistants had the opportunity to get an overview of the RISE scheme, due to UKRO explained clearly the proposal format and the key considerations related to planning, writing and submitting proposals, given the opportunity to ask questions.

One of the biggest concerns of UK researchers/companies is what will happen to them after brexit, Mr. Ian Devine, from UKRO, explained that “UK-based individuals and organisations would  remain eligible to bid for funding, participate in and lead consortia including for calls in 2019 and 2020″.

The new changes made in this call that we can find are, for example, the staff must be minimum one month in the company before starting the secondment; the research unit cost will be 2100 euros (person/month); a template for the letters is now provided as Annex 6 to the guide for applicants; etc.

In addition, Dra. Branwen Hide, from Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) showed the attendees the differents project which she is involved (ENACT Project, JENNIFER Project, and TUMOCS Project), giving, also, some key from her experiences to avoid the main risk to get the goals of the project.

To finalize, Professor Habin Lee, from Brunel University London, presented GREENDC Project. Both are agreed that the Consortium should be based on the needs of the Project.

EFB joined the meeting with the others participants (in total 30 persons) and share with them the purpose to apply to this call. EFB has already started to implement a new Project H2020 called Recopharma from call: H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017, which commenced in January 2018 for a period of 4 years. EFB will be working in the field of dissemination, communication and networking, where EFB has extensive experience.
