RECOPHARMA announces Workshop and Science Cafe

RECOPHARMA announces Workshop and Science Cafe

August 28th, 2019.  On Monday September 16th, the EC-funded project RECOPHARMA is holding an innovative workshop and science café at the Grand Hotel in Lund, Sweden, from 18.00 – 20.00.

A highlight of the event will be a talk delivered by Prof Lei Ye, University of Lund, entitled: “Molecular imprinting for water purification and remediation” and the workshop will provide an opportunity for expert speakers to share their latest research on molecular imprinting to produce man-made materials to separate low-concentration organic pollutants, providing novel methods for obtaining clean water.

The focus of the follow-on Science Café  will be a discussion about RECOPHARMA activities, the occurrence and fate of Recalcitrant Cytostatic Drugs (CDs) in the water cycle, and the project’s outputs and expected impact. This informal event aims at fostering interaction between all participants and experts as well as developing knowledge and awareness of responsible water and treatment of polluted water effluents. Project partner Leonardo Piccinetti (Europe for Business) commented: “This opportunity for engagement will help stakeholders and the public to fully appreciate the rapid developments in versatile, fast treatment for waste water and the importance of  RECOPHARMA’s work to ensure knowledge transfer between research institutions and the private sector.”

This will be the third in a series of four Science Cafes organised by the RECOPHARMA Project in France, Italy, Cuba and Spain. Registration is free at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/third-the-recopharma-science-cafe-tickets-69993567645

About the RECOPHARMA Project

The RECOPHARMA Project emerged from a need to develop an effective treatment to recover Recalcitrant Cytostatic Drugs (CDs) through the sequential integration of the potential offered by technologies such as Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs), Reagentless Thermosorption (RTS), Nanocomposites Functional Materials (NFMs) and Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP).

The RECOPHARMA Project, formed by 8 partners (see partners section), is a Research and Innovation Staff Exchange action, fostering intersectorial mobility between Europe and Cuba.

Initiated on 01/01/2018, during the 48 months of the project 107 exchanges will be carried out (199 P M). This project is co-financed by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) of the European Research Framework Horizon2020 (with a budget of 895.000€).Co-funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union – Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions
