New Publication on Inclusive Circular Economy Adoption in Egypt

Europe for Business Ltd (EFB) is pleased to announce its contribution to a newly published peer-reviewed scientific article in the journal Insights into Regional Development (Volume 7, Issue 4, December 2025), titled:

“Inclusive Adoption of Circular Economy in Egypt: Communication and Stakeholder Engagement among Low- and Middle-Income Communities.”

This publication addresses a timely and critical challenge: how circular economy (CE) principles can be adopted in a way that is inclusive, socially equitable, and economically meaningful, particularly for low- and middle-income communities in emerging economies.

🌍 EFB’s Contribution

EFB’s involvement in this research was led by Anna Piccinetti, representing Europe for Business Ltd (United Kingdom). Her contribution reflects EFB’s core mission: bridging research, entrepreneurship, and policy to support sustainable business models and inclusive innovation.

The study highlights that while circular economy strategies are often promoted through environmental narratives, their adoption becomes significantly more effective when framed around livelihood creation, income stability, and local economic opportunity—an approach closely aligned with EFB’s work in supporting entrepreneurs, SMEs, and innovation ecosystems.

🔍 Research Highlights

The study employs a rigorous mixed-methods approach, combining:

  • A SALSA-based systematic review of literature, policy frameworks, and real-world initiatives (2018–2025)
  • An expert consultation survey with 20 specialists in circular economy and community communication
  • Qualitative thematic analysis using ATLAS.ti

Key findings emphasise:

  • The crucial role of informal economic actors, particularly informal waste collectors
  • The effectiveness of local, participatory communication channels
  • The need to integrate bottom-up engagement into national circular economy strategies

The paper proposes an inclusive framework built on grassroots empowerment, multi-stakeholder economic integration, and adaptive communication—offering practical insights for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovation intermediaries.
