Supporting Climate Truths

Europe for Business’s Managing Director, Mr Leonardo Piccinetti, is taking on a key role in the forthcoming Cassandra Conference 2021, focusing on Scientific, technological, and socio-political answers to climate change and health, migration, conflict and gender inequality in the Mediterranean.

Organised by Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya (Eurecat) from 15th-17th November, this event will address the dramatic consequences of climate change on migration, health, conflict and gender and establish permanent synergies between the world of science and technology with the most important social and political realities of this century.

The conference, named in honour of the Trojan priestess of Apollo in Greek mythology who was cursed to utter true prophecies, but never to be believed, will offer an on-line audience the opportunity to interact with experts from the United Nations, The World Bank, the OECD, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Union of the Mediterranean,  Medicins Sans Frontieres,  Proactiva Open Arms, The World Wildlife Fund, MEDECC, the Spanish and Catalan Governments, The Vatican and 50 prominent universities, NGOs and cultural entities from all over the world.Experts will offer their visions in a ground-breaking dialogue with the public.

Speaking about Cassandra 2021, Noam Chomsky states: “Possible reactions by the privileged and powerful range from mass slaughter to humane integration. Speculation is idle. What’s needed is hard work to civilize our societies.’

Leonardo Piccinetti will be chairing Panel 9 – The role of the people on 17th November. This will examine how all social sectors must be involved in the co-creation and implementation of policies aimed at mitigating the devastating effects of climate change. This will be even more effective if supranational strategies are implemented at a municipal level and the role of ordinary citizens is made a priority. The acclaimed writer Professor David Feldman of the University California (Irvine) will present his latest book to be published in 2022 which explores the challenges entailed in ensuring that successful public engagement efforts enable inclusive representation by focusing on power-sharing and equity.

The event is 100% on-line and registration is free. Follow Cassandra Conference 2021 on cassandraconference.org
